Practice
Atelier Fercak is an independent architecture practice founded in 2023 by Sivilarkitekt, David Fercak. The practice was established in Stadlandet, Norway, and is today based between Norway and Spain, with its origins rooted in the Scandinavian landscape and architectural tradition.
Process
The studio operates as a collaborative practice, working closely with clients, consultants, and external specialists according to the specific demands of each project. Its work focuses on the context of landscape, identity, and materials, developing site-specific solutions. Architecture is understood as being shaped by local conditions and grounded in a practical and functional framework.
The practice follows a dialogue-driven and interactive process. Using sketches, models, digital tools, and material studies, projects are developed from concept to detailed execution as coherent entities. Where structure, spatial logic, and detail reinforce the architectural intention.
Place and Context
Every project starts with local context, understanding the place, and creating a spatial idea together with clients’ needs and preferences.
Dialogue and solutions
During the design process, dialogue with the client and builder is important and ongoing. On one hand, bringing the client’s vision into a reality, on the other hand, making sure the project is well executed, creating a BIM model that is used in development and communication with the builder and other professionals.
Background
David Fercak, born in Slovakia in 1994, studied technical architecture in Prague (Czech Republic), Göteborg (Sweden), and graduated from Bergen Arkitekthøgskole in Norway. While living in Bergen, began to work for LJB Arkitektur og Landskap, having the opportunity of understanding the Scandinavian context and architecture. This experience, together with various schools, contribute today to a distinct perspective and methodology that continues to shape the work of the practice.
